Mission Statement

The Federal Public Defender for the District of Vermont will zealously represent the interests of our clients with courage, devotion to duty, and uncompromised advocacy, limited only by the facts as developed, the law as it stands, applicable ethical constraints, and the Rules of Professional Responsibility.

Goals

Goal #1: Our organization will provide our clients with legal services of the highest quality.

Goal #2: Our organization will provide continuing legal education and general support to the Criminal Justice Act panel.

Goal #3: Our organization’s management will be stable, effective, fiscally responsible, and will be managed in accordance with Generally Accepted Management Principles of organizations of similar size, scope, and purpose.

Goal #4: Our organization will provide an environment that motivates, supports, and enables employees to provide excellent legal services.
